The protagonist hides/buries two mutilated coyotes in the first chapter and then does nothing until the last few chapters. She spends the time in between literally floating down the Colorado River, thru the Grand Canyon, letting life happen to her. And even that action is prompted by outside forces.
While the story line may lack a little, the character development and descriptions are beautiful. And, there's a lot to learn about the Navajo way of life in this book. So, it's not a total loss. I would try another book by this author.
