The Goddess of Fried Okra

The Goddess of Fried Okra - Jean Brashear I really enjoyed this book. It reminds me some of Fannie Flagg's novels (Fried Green Tomatoes, et al.) It follows Pea (real name - Eudora) as she recovers from her sister's death. She feels guilty, but why isn't revealed until later in the book. She's running across Texas when her car breaks down in a small town. The rest of the book is about how she finds what she's looking for. The author uses real historical markers from the back roads of Texas to head each chapter - an interesting trait that adds to the sense of place.
