One of my favorite series by one of my favorite authors. Big changes in this "episode" and I'm not real sure how I feel about those changes. I definitely didn't see them coming! The story (taken by itself) is very good - up to the author's standards - and could be read as a stand alone. But, you'll miss all the nuances of character development if you don't read the earlier books first.
