Cinder: Book One in the Lunar Chronicles
I really enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. It's set in a future China that has cyborgs, androids, and hover cars. Cinder is a cyborg who doesn't remember her childhood - her memories start with the "installation" of you mechanical parts when she was 11. The writing is lush, descriptions are vivid, and the characters are well defined.
Cinder is the first volume of a planned quartet - and that results in my only complaint about this book. There is a cliffhanger ending - and the next in the series won't be out until 2013!! If you can live with waiting, this book definitely lives up to the hype. Highly recommended.
